Blue Note Napa has announced the 2024 Black Radio Experience, a branch-off of its annual summer Blue Note Jazz Festival.  Grammy-winning musician Robert Glasper will host The Black Radio Experience, which will feature food, wine, comedy and music celebrating Black culture in Napa Valley on Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, at The Meritage Resort and Spa.

The festival will include three stages and feature more than 30 artists and comedians. Last year’s headliners at the Blue Note Jazz Festival included singer, songwriter and producer, Chance the Rapper, along with the queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige, and Nas, regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time.  Although this year’s lineup will not be announced until next month, ticket and on-site hotel packages, starting at $2,250 per person, have already gone on sale.

“Jazz is under the Black culture umbrella,” performer Terrance Martin said in an interview with BETNetworks . “I always say Miles Davis is our Beethoven. Jazz music is a sonic history book of what we’ve been through.”

The Blue Note Jazz Club and restaurant in Napa regularly hosts live jazz, rock, R&B, pop and blues performances on the first floor of the historic Napa Valley Opera House.

Response to the previous two jazz festivals in Napa has been “remarkable,” said Alex Kurland, Blue Note’s director of programming, in an interview with Pollstar. Given that a Blue Note club is in Napa, The Black Radio Experience helps reach new local and global audiences, Kurland said.

Referred to as a “Grown a** family reunion,” the festival in Napa will also feature a wine garden with local vineyards in attendance. For more information, click here.
