Special offers from more than 50 Napa Valley wineries and wine businesses will be available to Napa County residents during the 10-day Napa Neighbor Week event beginning Friday, Jan. 19.

The perks, exclusive to locals, includes 14 complimentary tastings, 27 two-for-one tastings and five wine discounts.

“We created the Napa Neighbor program as a way for community members to get out and to experience Napa Valley, a world-class wine region that’s in their backyard,” said Teresa Wall, Napa Valley Vintners’ director of communications. “Special perks are available just for them.”

The Napa Neighbor program was founded by the Napa Valley Vintners in 2001 as a way to involve the local community in the valley’s main industry. In addition to next week’s specials, the Napa Neighbor program offers about 100 more specials available year-round to residents.

Cornerstone Cellars tasting room located in downtown Yountville, is one of 52 local wine businesses participating in Neighbor Week and is offering complimentary tastings for groups up to four at 11 a.m., and 10 percent off wine purchases.

“I think the valley, and the industry does such a good job, offering great programs and incentives to people in the trade,” said Matthew Mills, managing director at Cornerstone Cellars. “It just makes sense to include our neighbors as part of that.”

The Yountville tasting room also offers continuous deals for locals, through the Napa Neighbor program that are available throughout the year.

“Outside of just a gorgeous experience, it’s great to have that educational benefit of what so many people in the valley work towards,” Mills said. “This is historically a less busy time of the year for all of us, so it gives more opportunity to welcome our neighbors and it helps keep us busy too, which is great.”

Residents interested in taking advantage of the deals are encouraged to book their reservations early, as appointments are projected to fill up quickly. Photo identification will be needed to confirm Napa County residency.

Although not technically a part of NVV’s Neighbor Week, but also on board to provide discounted experiences to residents is the Napa Valley Wine Train, which is offering two different rides, a three-hour lunch tour and meal for $99 and a six-hour tour, meal and wine tasting for $175. The dates are Jan. 16 to March 30, excluding Feb. 9 to Feb. 20.

This year, Neighbor Week specials coincide with Visit Napa Valley's annual Restaurant Week program, also Jan. 19 to 28, which invites all guests, not just locals, to make reservations to partake in special dining experiences offered by more than 50 restaurants, from American Canyon to Calistoga.
