American Canyon is moving the skatepark from the Napa Valley Unified School District property at American Canyon Middle School to Veterans Park at 2801 Broadway St. This project is scheduled to be completed by mid-January.

The total cost proposed for the Skatepark Relocation Project is $380,000.

The removal and installation of the equipment is approximately $96,000. The city noted this does not include sales tax, bonding, or replacement parts if needed.

The approximate cost for constructing and installing the 13,000 sq. ft. concrete pad for the Skatepark equipment is $234,000.

An additional $50,000 has been allocated as a contingency to address unforeseen project expenses, such as unexpected equipment repairs.

City staff identified four potential park locations to relocate the Skatepark, including Silver Oak Park, Veterans Memorial Park, the Old Napa Junction Elementary School and a space across from the Old Napa Junction Elementary School.

City staff highlighted distinctive features and logistical considerations for each location. The Commission determined that Veterans Memorial Park was the most suitable choice for relocating the Skatepark. This decision was based on the park's prominent and vibrant setting, ample existing parking, and its capacity to accommodate the facility.

The Skatepark will be unfenced and accessible for use during park hours, which extend from sunrise to sunset.

On Sep. 6th, 2o22, the City Council approved the Skatepark Relocation Project.
